Wouldn't hurt to tell even proudly that this is a free copy of Rogier van der Weyden's descent of the cross [link] truly a masterpiece of history.
Studying him will bring you nothing but good things.
i have done big studys arownd rogier van der weyden's work, expecialy this work you are talking about, the "deposition".

all my work is very inspired in the gothic period.

but its inspired by many other things too.

i dont know what you mean by free copy.
i could say about my enormous admiration and relation with the deposition. but then i would have to talk about many other things too. i dont like to atach my influences and written thoughts to my pictures.
i prefere to say nothing and see what people feel and think only extimulated by the image i created.
A free copy is as it sounds, not an exact copy but a work based on a specific source with certain freedom, more of an interpretation.

I beleive that images speak for themselves, but authorship is a very delicate subject.
If you don't mention the source you might get in trouble someday (family van der Weyden could be expecting you... hope not! : )

Plus I think that by saying this you are paying your tribute to him, and informing viewers about a masterpiece they ought to see!!

By the way, my master says this "deposition" is a perfect painting, you agree with him?
:D i like your master.
its very good question what you are asking me. but i cant say anything to you. its the point where i get fucked up, like calculators that answer with ERROR, the machine gets confused, exosted. but its great question anyway. and tell your master i admire him deeply for such faith.

"...we form each day the stuff of which eternity is made" -Elder J.B. Wirthlin
The backround is fantastic, it really fills up the pitchure.

It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry
it's just incredible.

o amarelo lembrou me as pinturas góticas em que as figuras são colocadas sob um fundo dourado ofuscante. gosto da forma onírica como as figuras flutuam entrelaçadas na "tapeçaria" do fundo.

parabéns pela exposição
